Coronavirus: Facts and Fears
As the coronavirus pandemic took hold in 2019 in the US, I was asked to help launch Sanjay Gupta’s daily “Coronavirus: Fact vs Fiction” podcast. It was no easy feat as a team was still being hired and there were no available answers to what all of us wanted to know about the deadly virus. I started producing daily episodes and set up systems and processes to streamline workflows for our newly formed audio team. Alongside this, we did weekly Facebook live Q+A’s with Gupta to answer viewer questions as well as answer kids questions on Instagram. The podcast became one of the most downloaded and was the Winner of the 2020 Best Podcast Eppy Award.
My family live abroad and when vaccines were becoming available in New York City, where I live, I wrote about vaccine guilt, how the privilege of being able to have a vaccine when my parents – who needed it more than I did – could not, was heart-breaking. My opinion piece was turned into a podcast that I recorded with Gupta, to draw attention to the global inequality of the pandemic.
